The photo competition winners announced
The Photo Competition close and we are delighted to announce the winners. These were chosen from a very high standard of entries and reflected photos that fully met our criteria.
Suchita Shah submitted the winning entry and had this to say about her photo taken in Cambodia, titled Leaf Spoon:
“The hand in the photo belongs to a grandmother who was feeding a child using a leaf – barely perceptible unless you got close. In the context of no running water, it was probably the cleaner, more eco-friendly option. Grandmothers are always resourceful, and this one was no exception.”
Pablo Tsukayama submitted the 2nd place entry and said this about the photo:
“These images were taken in Pampas de San Juan de Miraflores, a peri-urban shantytown located in the outskirts of Lima, Peru, in December 2014. We and our collaborators at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia have worked here for the last four years, studying the transmission dynamics of antibiotic resistance genes in low-income settings. Every year, our collaborators organize volunteers to put a children’s Christmas show and give gifts to the kids in the community so that they can play and join the festive spirit.”
Edward O’Connor submitted the 3rd place entry taken in Zambia.
